Amphitrite – Room 14

Amphitrite was one of the most beautiful Nereids. Her beauty was excited Neptune, who, according to legend, besieging her without success for a long time. In her effort to avoid pressure and marriage, eventually fled to Atlas. Neptune, however, sent a dolphin to find her. The dolphin did find her and brought her back.

Amphitrite is seen as a personification of the sea and mother of fish, of dolphins and whales.

Amphitrite was considered the queen of the sea, because of her marriage to Poseidon. Thats why she is depicted holding a trident.
